NEW SCHOOL AND STUFF

I am now well into my second week of staffing the Discipleship Training School (DTS) and it's been crazy fun!  I can't believe 2 weeks have already past!!  Today is Saturday and we're going to take the students to see kangaroos.  We do something almost every weekend so I don't have much time to myself.  Anyway! onto the pictures!

  First! some random pics

If you're sitting at home and feel like you've done everything under the moon for fun, do what my roommate did: order a blood testing kit off of ebay and find out what blood type you are.  She's an AB.  what are you?

The base I work at is a training base therefore, we have training schools running 4 quarters a years. I made some good friends from the April Quarter and here we are making our last trek for an IKEA brekkie (for you Americans out there, that's Aussie for breakfast :) before most of them left for home

Jesse being, well, Jesse

Introducing my DTS school:
 the October Quarter Frontline DTS!!!!

It all began on a Sunday evening.  As a way to bond with the students, we walked to a near by river and hung out with some sausages and fun

Our Brazilian/Korean

Our Swiss guy trying to throw an American football (he wasn't bad)

Some tough girls: on the right is Meriska (South Africa) and on the left is our combo student (American and New Zealand citizen but raised in Hong Kong)

Here are some of our Asians: Clara is from Indonesia and Steve is from Tahiti (first time I've ever met someone from Tahiti)

After the night of fun, we started the week off with a bunch of stuff.  On Monday, we met as a class in our classroom going over the school schedule and some guidelines.  Do you see that painting on the wall of the sunset? I did that :)

Our motto here is work hard and play hard.  So, after working hard on Monday, we went into the city for some sushi goodness

Shane, our Swiss/German had never tried sushi before.  Here was his reaction to trying it.....I thought he was going to spit it out

The next day, Tuesday, they spend the morning doing all kinds of paperwork and admin stuff.  So, in the afternoon, the entire base goes to a park for games and food.  This is where I found that my students love to play cards....yay!

Australia is into their sports more than Americans.  So, there is always some sort of game going.....I think this is a rugby game

From left to right: my fellow school staff Annelise (American), me, Clara (Indonesian), and Inae (Brazilian/Korean)

Here, we're taking a little road trip after the first week of the school.  We're heading to the sand dunes!

You see that sand dune?  First, we trekked to the river.  Then, we braved the cold water and swam across the river.  THEN.....we sledded down those dunes!  For those of you who have never done this, it's a  lot like snow sledding.  Expect, you get sand in places you don't want them.  It was a blast!!!

I guess that's it for now.  I'm having a lot of fun and I love our students.  They're real go-getters and I love seeing their hunger for God.  Every week in the school, we cover a different subject.  The first week, we taught on having Quiet Times and Hearing God's Voice.  This past week, they were taught on the Nature and Character of God.  Next week is a hard week: Repentance and Forgiveness.  Please pray for this week as students will have to understand what sin really does and how to release forgiveness on people in their lives.  It's usually one of the hardest but most freeing weeks in the school.  Please pray for wisdom for me.

Until next time!!!
