Story time!
FAITH AND PROVISION
God loves to be crazy! A few months ago, while working at a restaurant, God spoke. I was getting ready to go to work and I felt prompted to invite a couple friend of mine to eat at my restaurant. However....there was a problem: I had no money to pay for them. Oh well! I've learned not to say "no" to God so invite them I did. They came, they ate, they loved it! I was happy to bless them but constantly thinking "how am I going to pay for this". I was thinking this until it happened. Toward the end of their dinner, I had another customer give me a $100 tip! I mean...who DOES that? Here in America, that does NOT happen. But it did. Soooo.....I had enough to pay for my friends' dinner PLUS have a little extra.
WITNESS
Over the course of this year, I have worked in a small sushi restaurant owned by a Taiwanese man and his wife. They were agnostic but knew I was a Christian and what my plans are (moving to Indonesia). I was not shy to talk about God and how awesome He is. Last week was my last week. My last 3 days were Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. These (as you know) are week days. At a restaurant, a week day is slow with very little tips. I usually pull in $30 a night. Well, Monday night came and we were slammed. Tuesday night came and we were slammed. The husband said to me "I think your God is trying to help you. I'll be convinced if we're busy tomorrow night". Guess what happened the next night??????? YEP! Slammed! At the end of the night, my boss looks at me and says "Ok! I'm convinced". He didn't give his heart to Him that night but He now knows how powerful a God I serve.
LEAVING
As many of you know, I will be moving to Asia in a few days. It's a hard move since I will be away for at least 3 years. I've never felt so connected to this place as I do now (both family and church). I'm quite sad to leave everyone I love but as I look ahead, I feel excited to get there and start. As I have done support-raising, I've been blown away by the response. I have gone from 5 monthly supporters to 20 monthly supporters (PLUS several one-time donations). I mean....WOW! I feel like I'm not only going with a legion of angels but a legions of warriors as they support me in many ways. Thank you everyone who is joining me in this fight.
PRAYER REQUESTS AT THE END
Well, that's some of the highlights of these last few months. Once I get settled in Asia, I will be more consistent with updates. Onto the pictures!
USA Independence Day!
We celebrate with fireworks (in our front yard so we can scare our neighbours)
And FOOD! A typical American barbeque
Then came my niece's birthday. My sister and I packed a box full of little gifts and graffiti (mwahahaha!)
My brother was not as thrilled as the graffiti made its way to the entire first floor
He came around though :)
Prayer Request:
1) Moving to Asia and the settling process
2) Language study
3) For God to prepare the hearts of the M people
