Moving forward

Hello!  I'll give you a moment to get over your shock that I am actually updating my blogspot.......

It's been several months since letting you know what's been going on in my life. So let's get started.  Soon after my last update, I was able to be a part of the missions' festival at my home church.  Being one of the many supported missionaries, I was blessed to be a part of an entire weekend of mission festival activities.  I joined with several other missionaries in setting up a booth to let people know what I do (below).

I was able to talk with people about YWAM and most important, I had many opportunities to educate people about oral cultures, how they work, and how we can reach them with the Gospel.  I even had a chance to talk to a large group of teenagers about what missions is really about.

Then during the month of March and April, I was able to focus on being with and helping family. My sister and her family were home from the field for a few months so I watched my nephews to give her and my brother-in-law a breather.  Anyone who knows my nephews know they make coffee look calm but I love them and loved being with them.  I also had the chance to help with my Grandmother in South Carolina.  She has Alzheimer's and there were issues with moving her to the right facility.   Until we could get her in, I took the opportunity to go down there a few times to assist my aunt with my Grandmother's care.

Ok, now you may be wondering what I am up to now.  I know the curiosity is killing you!

WHAT NOW?

I'm working.  You may be wondering "I thought you were going to Indonesia?".  Those plans are still in place.  However, before I go, I need to get some financial issues out of the way which are taking longer than were initially planned.  Therefore, I'm working at a Sushi restaurant until they are settled.  Because it's a slow process, I won't be able to move to Indo as soon as I had planned.
mmmmm.......sushi!

WHEN,  WHERE, AND WHAT????

Here is what's going to happen once the financial issues gets sorted:
the green is Indonesia
Bali, Indonesia (8 months)
I will move to a YWAM base in Bali.  There I will do 2 things:
1) learn Indonesian
2) staff a missionary training program on base

Undisclosed location, Indonesia (3 years)
Once language is learned, I and my team will move to an undisclosed location in Indonesia.
There, we will live with an unreached people group that's 0.05% Christian.  The people there are illiterate.  They rely on stories to pass down history and values.  So, my team and I will be translating the Bible chronologically in a story format.....thus giving them the Word in a way they would understand and will remember (more details to come later).

We will be doing the translation as part of an international project called "One Story".  If you want to know more, here is their website:

That's about it. I hope you have enjoyed this post.  Below are some random pictures I have accumulated over the weeks.

The is why I never had allergy problems in Australia.  My lungs got use to this: mounds of pollen.  That's not dirt on my car; that's pollen......only 2 days worth.  It's so thick, the air becomes foggy.

Yep!  I'm brown now.  It was getting too expensive to keep my blond hair, so I went back to the dark side

My dad teaching my nephew some good eating habits.
